I am waiting patiently (NOT) for the next set of charts to be released.In the meantime, I have gone back to Isabelle Haccourt-Vautier's BAP, "Grand Marquoir", and it IS BIG! Anyway, I have run into a problem with it and if I may, I would like to pick your brains.
The above is the chart of the next square in the Grand Marquoir. I DO NOT like it at all. I'm not sure what it reminds me of, but it bugs me.I found a few things that I think would fit in both size (40x40 or so), and theme, feeling, whatever, and I like some feedback if you would be so kind.

That's a very pretty peacock you have done so far, Edy. I agree with you, that block for the grand marquoir is a strange one, from the three alternates you have posted I like the tree one best, but I think any of the three are a better choice than the original! Happy stitching!
Having stitched Grand Marquoir myself, I think the tree design is the best choice. All the squares on GM are quite busy, so the style of the tree design would fit in well.
I like the tree design the best also. I don't know what the Grand Marquoir looks like, but I agree with you in not liking that particular part of the design.
I vote for the tree also. It's the more quirky/unique/interesting of the three choices.

Seems like we all agree on the tree. It is definitely better than the face.
I haven't seen the BAP, but I personally like the tree the best. Nice progress on the first part of the Antique Sampler.
Even without seeing the rest of the sampler I would agree with everyone here and say I really like the tree - it seems to have that "sampler" feeling :)
That other design is really odd!
I agree the pattern is kind of strange. I would replace it with the tree.

I agree that mask is not nice. The tree is a little big for the 41 x 42 space, but you could easily just choose a part of it to use. The style would fit really well with the rest of the Marquoir pattern. Look forward to seeing a pic of what you end up with one day
